My name is Juana M. Ibáñez Laguía, but everyone calls me, “La Tana”.

I am a self-taught artist whose work is driven, both emotionally and aesthetically, by the creation of a dialogue between the details of realism and the freedom of abstraction.

My work is so important that it leaves no one indifferent. It is through boldness and determination that I created my own style, making it timeless.

I started painting before I started writing, and never stopped. Since childhood, I have developed this gift and today, my works are a living reflection of my great sensitivity for others and for art.

My works always come with written texts that reflect my state of mind at the time of their creation.

What makes me the passionate artist that I am is the way I expose my soul in every piece.

I believe in the power of art as a form of expression. My personal experiences and environment are my source of inspiration and my strong artistic intuition guides me through the art making process.

The challenge and joy of being able to express myself visually encourages me to paint. “My goal as an artist is to express the essence of what I experience”.

I mix and apply paint in a variety of colours that I feel will best amplify the beauty and energy of the painting. Through this process, I choose colours intuitively. I don’t abide by any rules, I simply let myself get carried away by the mysteries of colour.

I can only imagine that my subconscious is the main driving force in producing a unique palette for my work.

The conventional aspect of art does not limit me, and I do not perceive it as being a transcendent creation, but rather as being a reflection of inner serenity.

My works are characterised by precise edges, attention to detail and vivid colours.

I was born in the region of Aragon, Spain, and live in Belgium, but my heart belongs to Altea. My commitment to art was not a coincidence, it originates from my enthusiasm to capture my trips, experiences and that inner feeling, telling me that in order to live, I must believe.

My most important project, my painting Atelier in Altea historic centre, is the result of many years of hard work made possible by the support of my loved ones.

I am now embarking on a great journey in a location that is known to attract artists from all around the world.

Sharing it with all art lovers would be my greatest pleasure.
